weekly goals on karendrakeblog.com

This week’s goals post is a little late because yesterday was a stat holiday for us meaning Levi was home! Which meant I opted to spend the day with him rather than on my computer. ;)

Last week’s goals:

1. Weekday Workouts: C
I ended up working out 3 out of 5 times, but I also did longer workouts than I was intending to. Overall, I’m okay with what I accomplished. I could have done better, but I did something… so there’s that.

2. Edit Jasper Photos: C
Levi was out of town so I anticipated being able to just focus on these and get them done. Nope. I got 60-70% of the work finished though. Better than nothing, but again… I could have done better.

3. Read a Book: F
I got maybe 10 pages into one but that was it.

Bonus – Spring Cleaning: C
I did some major closet organization but that was the extent of my progress.

My thoughts about this past week? I’m a procrastinator. I put off doing things I don’t want to do… and truth be told, I wasn’t exactly looking forward to any of these goals. I so much time outside… gardening, laying in the sun, and just basically avoiding productivity at all costs. ha. I did get a ton of laundry done though, a lot of general housework, and I spent some time one day with my friend and her adorable baby. And I took even more photos to edit. ;)

Overall I definitely could have done better goals-wise, but I’m not going to beat myself up about it. Instead I’m going to focus on being productive this week.

This week’s goals:

1. Track My Points
Today I started Weight Watchers again. Sort of. “Sort of” because I didn’t actually sign up for the program. I just downloaded a food tracking app that mimics the dietary guidelines and whole points system. It’s what I used several years ago with a lot of success and I’ve decided that it’s time to do it again. It works for me because I learn to make healthier choices and it forces me to actually measure what I’m eating… portion control. So… this week’s goal is to track my points with everything I eat.

2. Workouts
Continue with the upper body workout I’ve been doing and throw some squats in for good measure. It’s my goal to hit 4 times this week. That’s one more workout than I’ve been getting in.

3. Finish Jasper Photos
Self explanatory. I just need to make myself get this done.

And now I’ve got a question for you guys… Do you enjoy these weekly goal posts at all? Would you rather I changed up the format of them somehow or maybe just stop doing them altogether? I’d really love to know how you feel about these posts so please leave a comment and let me know!

  • Susanna - I really enjoy weekly goals. It always motivate me to do my own lists of goals. Please continue these posts.ReplyCancel

    • Karen - I’m so glad they motivate you… that makes me happy!ReplyCancel

  • Kristi Jasik - Well, you get that whole procrastination thing honest…so there’s that! You can blame me, lol. Hey your working on gardening and from the last face time call the plants are doing well! If the suns out and that makes you happy then do it!!! You could work out outside, blend it into the gardening, do squats as you move from plant to plant. Lift your shovel in curls…run from the spiders! LOL. Get creative, then you can do your workout while enjoying the beautiful weather. Please drink plenty of water tho!!!! Good luck with your goals this week, you can do it! I honestly like the weekly goals posts, they inspire me or make me feel guilty, either way I LOVE them!ReplyCancel

    • Karen - hahaha you’re one of the most hard working “get-er-done” people I know though. so I’m not sure where the procrastination comes from. and yes… um there definitely has been some running from spiders. thanks for giving me ideas to enable my procrastination though! ;)ReplyCancel

Last week’s goals:

1. Weekday Workouts: F
I didn’t workout even once. I was completely determined to, but our weekend in Jasper left me completely exhausted on Monday. No big deal, I thought, I’ll just make up for this missed workout on Saturday. Tuesday, I was working in the yard for quite a bit of the day and was exhausted by the time I remembered I needed to workout. Wednesday came and I was sore from the yardwork the day before. And yeah. Because I hadn’t started the week off strong, I forgot about my workouts everyday until I had climbed into bed for the night… and there was no way I was getting back out to go workout. So unfortunately, I get a big F for this one.

2. Gardening: A+
All the prep work is done and everything is planted! I should hopefully be seeing some sprouts by the end of this week.

3. Edit and Post Photos: A
I posted photos from Elk Island, the photos of my backyard and garden, and even did a coffee break post. Aaaand got started on photos from Jasper. I’m calling this one a success.

This week’s goals:

1. Weekday Workouts
Seriously seriously this time. I don’t have any excuses this time and these are just “mini” workouts. I can do this.

2. Edit Jasper Photos
I’d like to get these completely finished this week. (I took so many, guys.) Extra points if I can get these posted on Friday.

3. Read a Book
It’s been forever since I’ve picked up a book to read. Or since January at least. I need to remedy that.

Bonus: Spring Cleaning
There are a couple areas of the house that could use a little extra attention… bonus points if I can get those cleaned up this week.

What are some of your goals for the week? Any tips for someone who procrastinates like crazy when it comes to working out? Happy Monday, friends!

Ever since I shared this post almost a month ago about seeking out the beauty in everyday life (one of my goals being to start capturing more of my everyday), I’m happy to say that I have been picking up my camera much more often. I mean… mostly to take pictures in my backyard, but it counts right? ;) (to be fair, that’s where I’ve been spending the majority of every afternoon. it’s been so beautiful outside!)

These photos are all from the span of a week… just wait until you see the difference in the leaf growth in that time!

Ladybugs! I was playing around with manual focus so some of these shots aren’t as crisp as I’d like them to be… but I love them anyway, so I decided to share them.

A week ago, this is what the tree in the middle of the yard looked like. Keep that in mind.

Scarlet runner seeds! They’re so pretty!

iPhone photos! The plant markers I made from washi tape, bamboo skewers, and letter stickers! (I “weatherproofed” them with packing tape. We’ll see how they hold up.) Aaand some green onions I found growing from last year’s garden. I put these to good use in my egg salad for lunch the next day!

I tried to get some better shots of my plant markers yesterday… but it was so sunny, they didn’t photograph very well.

Okay, remember that shot of the tree branches last week? This is what it looks like now! Soo crazy.

Aaand a photo that has absolutely nothing to do with plants or gardening… but is still sort of springtime related…
