This past weekend, we went on a spur-of-the-moment, snowy
walk adventure with our friends and their pups at Terwillegar Park along the North Saskatchewan River. As we were headed out the door, I decided to grab my camera… and I’m so glad I did! Over the weekend, we’d had some heavy fog and everything was covered in hoar frost. The park was absolutely beautiful!
It was a cloudy/foggy day and when we got to the park the sun was already starting to set so the lighting wasn’t ideal for photos… but you can still see how beautiful our walk was.
It was a little cold at first but once we started moving, I warmed right up. (I was actually sweating by the end of it…. in -8°. ha.)
The beavers had been busy before winter! So many trees looked like this one below…
I love the contrast of the red branches and the white snow.
Basically any shot I tried to get of Willow turned out like this… ha! She was so fully of energy and running all over the place.
We ventured down to the river and I got a few last photos before I ran out of light.
Brave dogs! (if I remember right, they turned right back around almost immediately after I snapped this… once the ice started cracking underneath their paws…. ha.)
(And because I’m just obsessed with the hoar frost… a couple of photos I took at the house as we were waiting for the car to warm up to head to the park.)
I can’t wait to go back to Terwillegar Park… and hopefully soon! I’d love to take some photos of the snowy paths earlier in the day with more light. It’s just so picturesque.
Happy Thursday, everyone, and I’ll see you back here next week!
